Historic win for Donegal hurlers over Kerry

Donegal 5-14 Kerry 3-16

Donegal made history with a first victory over a Munster hurling side as they took a four point win over Kerry in O’Donnell Park.

Despite hitting just three scores in the first half, two goals from Conor Gartland and Liam McKinney had Donegal on 2-1 at the break, but Kerry led by six as they hit 1-10, a goal from Oisin Maunsell helping them.

Peter Kelly hit a goal straight after the restart and Donegal went ahead after points from Gartland (0-2), Gerard Gilmore and Conor O’Grady.

They extended their lead before Kerry levelled through a Tom Doyle goal, but McKinney, who ended on 2-3, got his second goal before setting up Ruairi Campbell for a fifth green flag as Mickey McCann’s men were full value for the win.
