THE CEO of telecommunications contractor KN Circet has said the workforce at their design centre in Letterkenny will increase to in excess of 100 staff by 2023.
Speaking to the Donegal News this week Donagh Kelly said their Letterkenny hub, which currently employees 70 full time workers in the IDA Business Park, is growing on a weekly basis and they are expanding their office space in the coming weeks to accommodate their growth. Mr Kelly said the Letterkenny team is looking at new projects in the US and said there is huge opportunities for them in north America as well as Europe.
KN Circet are leading providers to the telecommunications, transport infrastructure and power sectors in Ireland, the UK and internationally.
“Everyone needs connectivity. Data consumption is growing on an annual basis and that’s our job to make that connection,” said Mr Kelly.
SITA
Meanwhile SITA, a company that provides IT services to the air transport industry, is currently in the middle of an expansion plan at their Letterkenny site. Earlier this year the company announced they were creating 55 jobs and that recruitment process is underway.
Providing an update, SITA’s Director of Software Development, Vincent Kennedy said they have been hiring staff during the pandemic and they will continue to grow throughout the rest of 2021 and 2022.
Mr Kennedy said he is feeling very optimistic about what the future has in store for the travel industry.
“Our industry is an industry that took a hit during the pandemic. Air travel was one of the many industries that suffered a decline during Covid but we are starting now to see signs of travel increasing. The need and desire to travel will be there and when people feel safe to do so it will return to pre-pandemic levels and greater.”
Having confidence to travel will be important as people jet off on long over due trips abroad.
“That’s where SITA comes in. Technology will be key in helping airports and airlines recover and SITA will be at the heart of that,” said Mr Kennedy.
Their important work will help airports, airlines and governments adopt to the new normal and will help create an environment where people feel comfortable travelling.
Zeus
Manufacturing firm Zeus Industrial Products is also recruiting staff for their Letterkenny operations.
“Zeus has been in Letterkenny for over 15 years and in that time the plant has steadily grown to having over 230 full time employees. We continue to seek talented individuals who will help us meet increasing customer demand. In the last number of years the Letterkenny plant has started to supply customers in Asia and this, along with the European market, provides us with a platform to continue to invest in equipment and talent,” said a spokesperson for the company.
“We have an immediate need for Machine Operators and we want to create a pool of candidates ready for hiring in Q1 and Q2 in 2022. Although recruitment is always dependent on market conditions, we expect to add more full-time, permanent roles in production, sales and support functions in the next 12 months which will align closely to the growing business needs of our customers.”
