THE Broadcasting Authority of Ireland today (Monday) awarded the radio station license for the Donegal North Franchise for a further ten years to Highland Radio.

“Highland Radio looks forward to continuing to be Ireland’s number one local radio station and increasing our investment in the north west. I want to say a very big thank you to all our listeners for their support and to our loyal advertisers and sponsors for the confidence they continue to put in Highland Radio as the best place to promote their business. It is important to recognise that today’s achievement would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of our fantastic staff.”

Highland Radio enjoys a radio market share of 67 per cent according to the latest JNLR studies (March 2014).

“Our listeners are at the heart of everything we do and achieve.” says Highland Radio Managing Director Shaun Doherty.

“On behalf of all the 53 staff members at Highland Radio, I want to thank each and every one for their support.

“Highland Radio will deliver on our commitment to the BAI of growing our listenership and market share, delivering top quality programming and evolving with the market. Above all we will continue to be relevant to the people of North Donegal by staying true to our ethos of local first.”

Most recently Highland Radio hosted its inaugural North West Expo, a further addition to its expanding portfolio of highly successful events including the North West Motor Show and Christmas Fair. Listeners also have the opportunity to play back Ireland’s most listened to local radio programme, the Shaun Doherty Show, through its new podcast service.
