High winds force flight cancellations at Donegal Airport

Donegal Airport

STORM force winds forced the cancellation of two flights from Dublin into Donegal Airport earlier this week.

A spokesperson for the airport confirmed to the Donegal News that the evening flights on Monday and Tuesday had to be cancelled.

They stated: “All flights to and from Donegal Airport were cancelled yesterday Tuesday 31st and the evening arrival on Monday 30th due to storm force winds. Despite the very bad weather conditions during March traffic on the Dublin route operated by Aer Lingus Regional was up by 12 per cent. The Dublin service operates twice daily.”

The spokesperson concluded that passengers who were booked on the cancelled flights were either provided with the option to travel by road or other alternatives: “As with any cancellation by any airline there are always alternatives given for either surface transport, rebooking to alternative date or a refund.”
