ONE Kerry man will literally be driving Donegal fans mad on All-Ireland weekend.

Tralee native Geoff Cotter, who now lives in Convoy, drives for Bus Éireann and has the unenvious task of taking bus loads of supporters from Letterkenny to Dublin next weekend.

Geoff is married to local woman Jo (nee Cowan) and they live with their two sons, Isaac (3) and Sam (1), within a stone’s throw of the Donegal GAA Centre of Excellence, just outside the village.

He has been living in Donegal for the past seven years and, like any Kerry man worth his salt, is confident that Sam Maguire will be making the familiar journey back to the Kingdom on Monday week.

Speaking to the Donegal News yesterday (Thursday), Geoff said he’s so confident that he’s even going to wear his well-worn Kerry jersey behind the wheel.

“I haven’t been getting much stick at home yet, but I do plan to be proudly wearing my Kerry jersey when the Donegal supporters are getting on the bus,” he laughed.

Meanwhile, staunch Donegal supporter and Bus Éireann manager in Stranorlar, John James McLaughlin, confirmed that it could be double trouble for Geoff next weekend.

“Such will be the demand next weekend that we will have three times as many busses on as normal, including double deckers based in Letterkenny and Donegal town,” he said.
