Derry City have confirmed the appointment of Paul Hegarty as their new assistant manager to Ruairí Higgins.
The former Finn Harps manager, who has also played, coached and managed at Derry City, replaces Paddy McLaughlin who departed earlier this week.
Hegarty, from Ballindrait, actually made his Derry City debut against Finn Harps back in August 1987.
He enjoyed a wonderful playing career at the Brandywell, making over 300 appearances for the club.
He was part of the famous treble winning side from 1989, managed by Jim McLaughlin.
Hegarty also played with Finn Harps, and in the Irish League with Coleraine and Institute.
He was assistant manager to Stephen Kenny at Derry City before taking over as manager at Harps following the departure of Anthony Gorman.
He led Harps to promotion from the First Division in 2006 in his first season in charge.
He would later return to Finn Park as assistant to Ollie Horgan.
His appointment at the Brandywell comes just a week out from the start of the new League of Ireland season with Derry City at home to Drogheda United on the opening weekend of the Premier Division on Friday, February 16.
