Very heavy thundery downpours expected at 6pm

WHILE Donegal braces itself for storm Ophelia Met Éireann has warned there will be very heavy thundery downpours across the county at approximately 6pm.

Speaking to Donegal News a Met Éireann Forecaster said while the conditions won’t be as bad as the south coast winds of 130 km/h to 140km/h could still be reached in Donegal.

In terms of rainfall she said it is extremely difficult to determine but said there will be very heavy thundery downpours this evening which could lead to flooding.

“Winds will begin to steadily pick up over Donegal from now on,” she said. “The conditions will be very unstable. At the moment the storm is travelling over the west coast of Kerry and will track up over Galway and travel inland towards Donegal by 6pm.”
