Heartbroken Donegal family appeals for help to find beloved lost hat

By Dionne Meehan

A DONEGAL family left heartbroken after recently losing a sentimental, handmade hat, have issued one final appeal in the hope of being reunited with it before this Sunday’s All-Ireland Semi-Final.

The hat, which was crafted from an Ireland Rugby jersey and a Donegal jersey, was specially made for the McCaffrey family from outside Ballyshannon, who are life-long Donegal supporters.

However, it was misplaced following the recent Donegal vs Monaghan game in Croke Park, Dublin.

Sharing her heartbreak this week, Dee McCaffrey told the Donegal News that she has her fingers and toes crossed, hoping the cherished hat will be found.

“The hat was made by my aunt for my husband who was going to the Rugby World Cup in France in 2023,” she said.

“There is a Donegal crest at the top of the hat, it is quite distinctive.

“We have taken the hat to every single Donegal match, we are season ticket holders.

“We are devastated.”

If you know the whereabouts of Dee’s hat, contact her on 086 2536078.
