Health and Beauty: Valentine’s Day Beauty Tips

Valentine's Day

WHEN it comes to Valentine’s Day, or any special date night, We all have one thing in common, we want to look and feel amazing! On special nights like these, most of us would agree that we put a little more time and effort into our looks.

Regardless of what look we are going for in the end, it is always best to start preparing for that special date, the night before. Below I share my beauty tips for this coming Valentine’s Day or any date night.
The first step is to achieve soft touchable skin, especially during this time of year when most of us are experiencing dried out skin.

Prepping the skin the night before gives your skin the chance to absorb all of the moisture while you are getting your beauty sleep. Exfoliate your skin with a gentle scrub, apply a rich moisturising mask. While the mask is on, start on the body. Using a body polish start to slough off dead skin cells, it is best to apply the scrub to dry skin and work it in before adding any water.

Step in the shower to lather it up and rinse it off, your skin will feel silky smooth and refreshed. Now you are ready for a full body golden tan. To treat those weathered, winter lips, use a soft toothbrush to exfoliate the build up of dead skin and apply a lip balm to layer your lips with a hydrating coat in preparation for that Valentine bold red lip.

Bold red lips should not be feared, Use a red coloured lip pencil to outline your lips and apply all over to help the colour last longer.
Then apply your red lipstick using a lip brush, blot with a tissue and apply a second coat of lipstick. Gloss can then be added to create the illusion of fuller lips. Define your brows and lashes. Fill in your eyebrows with a soft taupe brow pencil to frame the face and add balance to a strong lip colour.

Gently work the pencil throughout the brow, from the bridge of the nose outward. Use vertical strokes, following the same direction as the hair growth.

Use a brow brush to blend the pencil up and out of the brow. It should look soft and subtle. Finish with a coat of clear brow gel.
Apply two coats of shiny, black mascara from the lash roots to the tips. Apply liberally, but never messily. You do not want your lashes to steal the focus away from your bright lips.
