LETTERKENNY Musical Society’s production of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ promises to be one of the most visually stimulating shows to be seen in An Grianán Theatre this year.
It takes to the stage on Tuesday, March 4 and runs to Saturday, March 8.
Based on the 1964 novel by Roal Dahl, it tells the story of Charlie Bucket, a young but very poor dreamer, who is obsessed with the chocolatier Willy Wonka.
Charlie’s delighted to see a new shop opened in town by ‘the candyman’, and even more thrilled to hear that Wonka is opening up his factory for an exclusive tour. Five children will get to tour the factory and possibly win a grand prize at the end. All they have to do is secure one of five golden tickets hidden in bars of Wonka chocolate.

The first four tickets are secured by a less than loveable bunch, and as for the fifth…..well, the name sort of gives it away, doesn’t it?
Patrick Moore brings Willy Wonka to life in what promises to be a stunning performance, while Oisin McLaughlin and Matthew Barron are our two wonderful Charlies, Oisin on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night, and Matthew on Thursday night and Saturday afternoon.
The other Golden Ticket winners are played by Matthew Barron, Joshua Concannon, Ariel Fakrogha and Amy Galvin.

Chris Duddy is Grandpa Joe, Trisha Carlin is Charlie’s mother, and the parents are Donal Kavanagh, William McFadden, Nicola Shields and Sarah Terry Sweeney.
Add to the mix Jean Curran, Michelle Ferry, Orflaith McGee, Gary McHugh, Lorraine Porter, Deigh Reid and a wonderful supporting cast of singers and dancers, you have a recipe as sweet as anything in Willy’s notebook. Maria Rushe’s direction and Emmet Stewart’s choreography are underscored by the musical direction of Gerard Bradley, a wonderful set of ingredients that combine to make something special.
Tickets for the show are selling faster than Wonka’s Whipple-Scrumptious Fudge-Mallow Delight, so to secure yours, go to angrianan.com, or call the box office on 0749120777.
