SENATOR Jimmy Harte still remains in a critical condition in a Dublin Hospital this evening (Tuesday) after a tragic fall in the early hours of Saturday morning.

In a brief statement his family said this evening ‘Jimmy remains in critical condition in Beaumont Hospital.

“The Harte family are extremely grateful and thankful to the people of Donegal and throughout the country who have sent their messages of goodwill and support,”

Senator Harte (55), a father of four, is in a medically induced coma in Beaumont Hospital which medical staff would try to wake him from either today or tomorrow. While he is gravely ill, the outlook for him is said to be “positive.” Senator Harte (55) had been attending the Republic of Ireland versus Latvia football international friendly at the Aviva stadium with his daughter Amy Rose as well as other family members on Friday evening.

He went out socialising in the city with them after the game. It is believed he returned on foot to an apartment in Dublin 8, which he owns and lives in when in Dublin.

A large volume of CCTV footage captured in the area of Newmarket Square, Dublin 8, where Mr Harte was found, has been studied.

Detectives say all of the evidence that has emerged has suggested there was nobody else on the street at the time of the fall or in the immediate vicinity.
