Finn Harps . . .1
Treaty United . . . 0
On a night when Finn Harps paid an emotional tribute to their former manager Ollie Horgan, the Donegal side clocked up another win to maintain their excellent run of form.
Prior to kick off on Friday night, wreaths were placed in the centre circle by the Harps and Treaty captains Tony McNamee and Lee Devitt. A wreath was also laid on behalf of the FAI.
Then followed a minute’s applause as the Harps fans, players and management from both clubs offered their respects to a man who did so much for football in the North West.
Ollie passed away on Thursday and his funeral will take place in his native Galway on Monday.
Hans Mpongo’s goal on 26 minutes was enough to give Harps the win. The striker’s fifth goal in eight games ensured a fourth win on the bounce for Kevin McHugh’s team.
In a game of few clear-cut chances, Treaty did their best to find an equaliser in the second half. But Harps held out and survived nine minutes of injury time to take the win.
And as we enter the closing stages of the season, Harps are now just a point outside the play-off position and firmly back in the promotion hunt.
