Harps rue costly error as they drop bottom of the table

Bohemians 2-2 Finn Harps

FINN Harps were left to rue a costly late error as they drew with Bohemians at Dalymount Park this evening.

Ollie Horgan’s men looked set to win but Declan McDaid struck in the 90th minute and Harps are now bottom of the table with only two fixtures left after UCD beat Drogheda United.

Declan Devine’s Bohs had the better of the first half without creating much.

Harps upped the ante late in the half and Barry McNamee missed a glorious chance, before Filip Mihaljevic saw a penalty effort saved by Tadhg Ryan in the 41st minute.

HT: Bohemians 0-0 Finn Harps

Bohemians opened the scoring in the 62nd minute when Ethon Varian bundled the ball over the line from close range.

Harps dug deep and Ethan Boyle equalised with a header from McNamee’s corner in the 75th minute.

Ollie Horgan’s team then hit the front four minutes later when Mihaljevic battled past Ciaran Kelly, and poked the ball to the net.

Harps were on course for victory but goalkeeper James McKeown then miscued a routine clearance and Declan McDaid tapped home.

Neither side could find a winner and Harps had to settle for a draw.

UCD (who have a game in hand) are now two points ahead of Harps in the table. The Students face Shelbourne on Monday before making their way to Ballybofey next Friday for a crunch clash with Ollie Horgan’s team.
