Finn Harps 2-2 Drogheda United
Finn Harps were held to a draw in Ballybofey tonight as Ryan Brennan’s late goal rescued a share of the spoils for Drogheda United.
Harps went behind after only six minutes when James Clarke found the bottom corner of their net.
However, they got back on level terms 16 minutes later when Eric McWoods fired home.
Harps were the better side as the first half progressed and Yoyo Mahdy gave them the lead with a close-range finish.
HT: Finn Harps 2-1 Drogheda United.
The home side kept the pressure on at the start of the second half and Ryan Rainey and Filip Mihaljevic both missed chances while Ryan Connolly forced Sam Long into a fine save.
Andrew Quinn also somehow cleared off the line to prevent Mahdy from scoring a header in the 80th minute.
Drogheda had offered little in the second half up until that point but they struck for a leveller in the 85th minute when Ryan Brennan scored.
Harps didn’t give up and it looked like they were going to notch a winner in the 94th minute but Mahdy’s shot was superbly saved by Long.
In the end, the Ballybofey men had to settle for a draw. They return to action on Saturday when they take on league leaders Derry City.
