Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan says his team needs a huge performance if they are to get anything from tonight’s derby with Derry City.
Harps have already beaten Derry at home on the opening night of the season and shared the spoils in the Brandywell, but Horgan is under no illusion about the size of the task facing his team.
“They are going very well and are up there in third place in the league for a reason, we need to get a huge performance from our boys if we are to get anything from the game.”
“They have a proper full-time set up, they look like they will make Europe next season and that is not an excuse, it is just reality. In the second half against us in the Brandywell they showed their real class, it was backs to the wall stuff for us and we’ll be hoping they don’t play as well again.”
Harps lost 2-0 last weekend when they travelled to Bohemians and despite a good performance, they came away empty handed.
“We played well for 70 minutes, we had chances – it wasn’t one way traffic or anything, they had chances too – but we did create and we did play well until they scored and then we were very poor in the last 15 minutes.
It was the same against Bray and in the second half against Wexford. We need to play better than we did, but at the end of the day it’s all about getting points so if we won’t play well and still get something from the game, we’ll take that.”
