Dundalk 3-0 Finn Harps
FINN HARPS found the reigning league champions Dundalk too hot to handle in Oriel Park tonight, as they lost out by three goals to nil.
Ollie Horgan’s team got their league campaign off to a great start by beating Derry City 2-1 last week, but they were 16/1 to make it back-to-back victories before kick-off.
The bookies rarely get it wrong and Dundalk took the lead in the 16th minute when Paddy Barrett lost his marker at a corner and headed to the net via the post.
The home side lacked urgency in the first half and Harps managed to contain them reasonably well, although Patrick McEleney did hit the post on the stroke of half-time.
Stephen Kenny’s Dundalk made it 2-0 in the 59th minute when McEleney found the net from the edge of the box, before Ryan Curran put the ball into his own net 16 minutes later.
Harps will look to bounce back from this defeat when they host Shamrock Rovers in Finn Park on Monday night.
