Finn Harps 0-1 Waterford FC
FINN Harps are now only four points clear of the relegation play-off spot after they lost an important game against Waterford at Finn Park this evening.
Harps were looking to put real daylight between themselves and ninth-placed Waterford but they couldn’t do that after delivering a disappointing performance.
Both sides had half-chances to score in the first half, and Harps almost had the ball in the net in the 33rd minute but Shane Griffin headed off the line.
Waterford were then awarded a penalty in injury-time and Junior Quitirna hammered the spot-kick to the net.
HT: Harps 0-1 Waterford
Harps had a great opportunity to score at the start of the second half when they were granted a penalty themselves but for the second home game in-a-row, Barry McNamee saw his effort saved.
Adam Foley hit the post in the 52nd minute but Harps struggled to create openings as the match progressed.
Prince Mutswunguma was shown a straight red card for a lunge on Stephen Doherty late on before Conor Barry missed a great chance to level in the 94th minute.
Waterford held on for a victory which will give them a real shot in the arm, and Harps will be looking at a relegation battle unless they pick up form quickly.
