Harps look to continue good form against Wexford

Ollie Horgan, Finn Harps Manager.

Finn Harps are in good form as they welcome Wexford to Ballybofey, but Ollie Horgan is not taking anything for granted.

Harps’ next two league games are against the bottom sides in the league, with Wexford coming to Ballybofey this week, before Horgan’s side travel to Athlone in two weeks (Harps take on Bray Wanderers in the FAI Cup next week).

On paper, it looks like two games that a promotion chasing side should win, but Horgan has seen teams with nothing to play for upset the odds in the past, and he won’t be leaving anything to chance.

Harps recorded a narrow 1-0 win against Wexford earlier this year, while the sides also played out a draw, and Horgan says they have always been a club that his team have struggled to get results against.

“I saw Wexford play against Drogheda last week, and they put their heads on the line like it was the FAI Cup Final.

“Shaun Kelly was sent off five or six minutes into the second half, and they were outstanding at how they acquitted themselves for their new manager.

“I saw it myself what Wexford could do with 10 men never mind 11 men, and it’s a recipe for disaster if you look at the table positions.

“The other side of that is UCD are top of the table and we will take a cut at them, just like Wexford and Athlone will take a cut at us.”
