The Ballybofey men had chances to get back on level terms but they trailed 1-0 at the break.

Sean Boyd and Ethan Boyle missed big opportunities at the start of the second half and it looked like it might be a frustrating night for Harps.

However, Tunde Owolabi then won a penalty in the 75th minute and Barry McNamee converted it.

Harps hit the front one minute later when Adam Foley showed great pace down the right and produced a smart finish for his sixth goal of the season.

Ollie Horgan’s team stayed strong in the closing exchanges and were delighted to pick up three points from their long journey south.

Harps take on top-of-the-table Sligo Rovers at Finn Park on Friday evening (kick-off, 5.45pm).
