Harps denied point by late Bolger strike

Finn Harps 0-1 Shamrock Rovers

Greg Bolger struck an 85th minute winner as league leaders Shamrock Rovers claimed the spoils against Finn Harps tonight.

Ollie Horgan’s Harps started the game impressively. They were defensively solid and Sam Todd and Caolan McAleer both went close to scoring.

Rovers improved as the half progressed, and Dylan Watts almost gave them the lead. However, Harps deservedly went in at half-time level with the Tallaght men.

The visitors upped the ante after the restart, and Keith Cowan cleared the ball off the line, before Aaron Greene had a goal disallowed for offside.

However, Harps held strong at the back and Rovers were limited to half chances as the game progressed.

The home side looked like they would hold on for a valuable point, but disaster struck in the 85th minute when Bolger smashed a shot to the net.

Harps never looked like getting a goal back, and they remain at the bottom of the table with just two points from eight games.
