Finn Harps 0-1 Drogheda United
There was a dramatic finish at Finn Park tonight as Dane Massey scored a controversial 96th minute free-kick to claim all three points for Drogheda United against Finn Harps.
Both sides had chances to score in a feisty first half. Drogheda went closest with a Mark Doyle volley but Mark Anthony McGinley denied him with a magnificent save.
Drogheda pushed hard at the start of the second half and McGinley had to make smart saves from Ronan Murray and Doyle.
Harps were second best but they did go close through Ethan Boyle and Conor Barry.
The home side upped the ante and Dave Webster was unlucky with a long-range shot, before Tunde Owolabi had a penalty appeal denied.
Harps looked the most likely side to find the winner, and Drogheda had Luke Heeney sent off in the 90th minute for hacking Owolabi down with a wreckless challenge as the striker raced through on goal.
Webster was also dismissed at the death for a foul on Chris Lyons on the edge of the box.
Harps were not happy with that decision, but Massey held his composure, and his brilliant free-kick went in off the bar, and the home side were left deeply frustrated.
