FINN HARPS 2-0 Limerick FC (Harps win 2-1 on aggregate)
BJ Banda was Finn Harps’ hero as his 117th minute winner saw Ollie Horgan’s men overcome Limerick FC and make it back to the League of Ireland Premier Division for the first time since 2008.
Harps went into the Play-off Final trailing 1-0 from the first leg, but they levelled proceedings on aggregate when Michael Funston found the net in the 38th minute.
Horgan’s side played some of their best football of the season in front of a sell-out crowd of 3,200 people, but they couldn’t find another goal and the game went to extra-time.
Limerick pressed hard in the additional 30 minutes, but the Harps defence stood strong, and the game looked to be heading to penalties.
That was until 17-year-old Banda headed in from Damien McNulty’s cross to send Harps back to the top flight.
