EOIN Gallen has recently started studying at Queen’s University, Belfast but the books will be far from his mind this Sunday when Sean MacCumhaill’s take to the field in the Donegal SFC semi-final.
Favourites Gaoth Dobhair stand in their way, but Gallen and his teammates have nothing to lose, and have already shocked the Donegal public by qualifying from their group and defeating St Michael’s last Saturday.
There is a sense that MacCumhaill’s are really starting to fulfill their potential, and Gallen says a lot of that is down to the hard slog they have put in since the start of the year.
“We’re over the moon to make the semi-finals. It’s been a long year and we have been training super hard,” said the 22-year-old goalkeeper.
“We were out before Christmas and that work proved its worth in the league, and it’s still standing to us in the championship.”
