The gritters will also be deployed at 6am on Tuesday.

A fog warning has also been issued by Met Éireann and will take effect from 8pm tonight.

The forecaster has warned of impaired visibility and potentially hazardous travelling conditions due to areas of dense fog.

The status yellow alert will be in place until 11am on Tuesday.

Meanwhile a wind warning for the entire country was also issued earlier today.

The advisory is in place until Saturday and there are warnings of strong winds for Thursday and Friday night.
