DONEGAL County Council’s gritting service will be out on all designated routes this afternoon from 3pm.
The council say they will be back in operation from 6am on Tuesday.
The gritters have been busy treating main routes over the past few days although heavy overnight snow left many roads extremely treacherous on Monday morning.
A Moderate Weather Warning for snow-ice in Donegal was issued earlier today by Met Éireann.
The warning came into force at 11am this morning and is valid until 9am on Tuesday.
Met Éireann is predicting wintry showers with sleet and some snow accumulations. There will also be a sharp frost and ice with hazardous travel conditions and poor visibility. The affected areas for the warning include Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
