IT promises to be another busy few hours for the gritting staff of Donegal County Council who will be out on all designated routes this St Stephen’s Day evening and again tomorrow morning.
In a week of freezing temperatures the council’s gritting service has been regularly treating the county’s roads for the past few days.
The council say they will be in operation again on Friday evening, December 26, at 5pm and again on Saturday morning at 6am.
Met Éireann is forecasting more low temperatures in Donegal tonight. It will be dry with long clear spells. However, it will be cold, with lowest temperatures of -1 to +2 degrees.
Earlier today four vehicles left the road in the Bullock Park area of Drumkeen on the main Letterkenny to Ballybofey road.
The incident occurred close to the service station at Drumkeen with the cars travelling towards the Twin Towns.
There were reports of dangerous conditions in and around Letterkenny, in the Twin Towns and in Glenties.
Drivers are advised to assume that all routes are dangerous and to journey with care, especially in places which are shaded from the sun.
