Gritters out as temperatures plunge

DONEGAL County Council has confirmed that its gritting fleet will operate at full capacity this week as temperatures continue to tumble.

A spokesperson for the local authority said that with snow forecast, its staff will be out doing what they can to keep roads open and drivers safe.

“In the short term snow falls are expected in many areas of the county later this evening and overnight with the potential for further snow fall later in the week also,” said a spokesperson.

“In Donegal over 1,400kms of our public roads have been treated three times each day for the last number of days and this is likely to continue in the short term.”
