MUCH of Donegal will be in lock down from 4pm today amid predictions of heavy snow showers and high winds.
Areas north of Milford and in Inishowen have already witnessed significant falls of snow this morning and forecasters say things could deteriorate further as Storm Emma moves in.

“The Council is asking all members of the public to follow the advice to avoid non-essential travel and remain indoors and to heed the advice from local and national media. These updates are being carried on the Council’s social media outlets.
“Essential and emergency response services will continue to be provided. The Council may be contacted on the following numbers: 074 9153900 until 5pm on Thursday and 9am to 5pm on Friday.”
The HSE is asking that those contemplating attending Letterkenny hospital’s A&E Department, consider whether they absolutely need to.
They added, “Letterkenny University Hospital is now cancelling routine Day Surgery and outpatient appointments today and tomorrow (Friday).
“Patients for dialysis continue to be treated and it is anticipated will continue to be treated today and tomorrow.
