Greencastle Community Centre is bringing the community together with a heart-warming initiative aimed at helping children in need.

Starting on Tuesday, 24th September, the Centre will host a four-week knitting drive to create hats and scarves for the Team Hope shoebox appeal.

This event, which will run every Tuesday from 11 am to 1 pm, invites individuals of all knitting abilities.

From seasoned experts to complete beginners to participate.

The knitting drive promises a relaxed and enjoyable environment, where participants can knit, chat, and contribute to a meaningful cause.

“We’re excited to bring people together for this heart-warming initiative,” said Susan McAleer, the organiser of the event.

“Knitting is a wonderful way to relax and socialise, with the help of hugely talented local knitter Monica Kitson we are encouraging everyone in the community to join us and help spread some cheer this winter.”

The knitted items produced during the drive will be donated to Team Hope, a charity known for delivering shoeboxes filled with gifts to children in developing countries.

By joining in, participants can help ensure that children facing difficult circumstances will have a warm and comfortable winter.

For those interested in getting involved or looking for more information, Susan McAleer can be contacted at the Greencastle Community Centre on 0749381054 or via email at susan@greencastlecentre.ie.
