Green light for completion of Donegal Community Stadium

Pearse Doherty TD welcomes news that the green light has been given for the completion of the Donegal Community Stadium.

Teachta Pearse Doherty has welcomed the news that the Donegal Community Stadium, a 6,130-capacity stadium with all areas covered which will be home to Finn Harps Football Club, can move forward with construction.

Speaking today, Pearse Doherty said it is great news for the region and something Sinn Féin have fought for.

“I made representations on behalf of the committee to the government before the Dáil recess and then again to the Minister yesterday to ensure there was no delay in the construction of the stadium.

“I am now delighted to hear that the project has been given the green light and that construction can begin.

“I would also like to commend the committee overseeing the proposal and Finn Harps for all the trojan work they have done to ensure that this excellent facility will be provided to the people of Donegal.

“They have shown incredible determination to see this through.

“The wider Donegal community will benefit from their vision to develop such a stadium becoming a reality and will be indebted to them.

“I would also like to thank the council and the FAI for also providing funding for the project,” he said.
