DONEGAL Airport has been given a lift following the allocation of a €22,500 grant.
The funding is in respect of updating the air traffic control navigational charts.
Welcoming the news, Leas Cheann Comhairle Pat the Cope Gallagher TD said it was vital that the airport was funded as it played an important role in Donegal’s economy.
Mr Gallagher added, “Our airport plays an important role in the economic life of Donegal and I am delighted that the number of passengers using the Donegal/Dublin service has increased by 20 per-cent in the first quarter of 2017 in comparison to 2016.”
Government Chief Whip Joe McHugh said the cash boost would allow the airport to develop further and that it was “good news for local enterprise and tourism”.
