From a planking granny to dancing teenagers and more…

A Donegal physiotheraphy clinic has just launched a new YouTube channel to take their popular Clinical Pilates Classes online.
Physio Éireann, with clinics in Ardara and Donegal Town, teach 25 classes a week with patients of all ages and all abilities attending.
“This is the very first time this has been done in Ireland (online pilates) by Chartered Physiotherapists. We will be adding videos all week and it’s free,” Ms Ciara Mooney explained.
“From teenagers trying to improve their Irish dancing, to grandmothers recovering from spinal surgery, we can adapt every exercise to ensure our clients are exercising at a comfortable safe level.
“As a result, we have put together a professional, safe, easy to follow Online Clinical Pilates Series,” she added.

Indeed, Ciara’s grandmother is included in the series doing the plank while other classes focus on those tummies and gluts.
Pilates is a low impact body conditioning exercise programme which gives patients the strength and confidence to get into a regular exercise routine.
“The classes are 30 minutes and led by our Chartered Physiotherapists, who explains in detail how each exercise should be done and how it should feel. We tell you what common errors to watch out for and always remind you that if you are feeling something you are not sure about stop and get it checked out by your healthcare professional,” Ms Mooney said.
Episode one starts with absolute basics for all beginners. This moves onto our level 1 classes in episode two which are suitable for beginners or anyone currently managing back pain or injury.
Each week they will add new classes online; Level 2 is for those wanting to increases their strength while Level 3 is our high-level class for those wanting to challenge themselves. There will be something for everyone.
“The goal of our Pilates is simple – provide a safe, challenging environment where clients of all abilities and of all ages can exercise. Hopefully we can achieve that with our new online series,” she said.
