A GORTAHORK couple whose home was struck by a van which failed to take the bend on the road have called on the council to provide a crash barrier.
This is the second such incident at the home of Joanne and Milo Butler at Cashel na gCor in less than three years.
The couple were unloading their shopping on Saturday afternoon when the van left the road and hit the roof and side wall of the house.
The driver was brought to hospital with suspected broken bones. The Butlers were not injured.
An engineer from Donegal County Council is to assess the damage to the house.
The Butlers are calling on the local authority to provide a crash barrier, which is estimated to cost in the region of €5,000, however the council has indicated in does not normally provide barriers in such locations.
Local Cllr Michael Colm Mc Giolla Easpaig has stated an exception should be made in this case.
