Good Samaritan came to woman’s aid in Letterkenny

A WOMAN who was helped by a good Samaritan in Letterkenny after her car hit and mounted an island in thick fog is hoping to find the young man who came to her aid.
The 81-year-old Gaoth Dobhair woman was left shaken after the incident in the early hours of  Sunday, October 17, which caused two of her car tyres to rip apart.
Her son, Brian McIntyre told the Donegal News how his mum had planned to visit him in Glasgow but was delayed due to the incident.
“My mum has just come over from Gaoth Dobhair to visit me and has told me a heart-warming story story of why she never came over to visit on October 17, as planned. She had been driving in thick fog and was thinking about turning back when she hit and mounted an island in lower Port Road in Letterkenny at 3.45am. Two tyres were ripped apart and mum was pretty shaken.”
Brian said a young man emerged from the fog, and checked his mum wasn’t injured. The man stayed with his mum for a number of hours.
“He ended up being with my mum for nearly four hours in which a taxi driver helped by contacting a breakdown truck and her car was taken to a garage.”
Brian said his mum didn’t get the surname of the young man who helped her. She said his first name was David and he was aged in his early 20s.
“She would like to publicly thank all concerned, particularly David. She is disappointed that she never got his surname and wishes she could thank him properly.”
