Downings 2-6 Termon 1-8
Downings are through to their first Intermediate final in thirty years after edging out Termon after extra-time in O’Donnell Park today.
The first half was disappointing viewing, but Downings led by 0-4 to 0-3 at half-time.
Termon then grabbed a big score in the 35th minute when Bobby McGettigan found the net.
Downings hit back with a goal of their own when Ronan Gallagher converted a penalty.
It was tit-for-tat after that and a Daire McDaid free looked to have won it for Termon before Johnny McGroddy kicked a 63rd minute equaliser.
That sent the game to extra-time and two Jack Alcorn kicked two points for Termon.
However, a 78th minute goal from Kevin ‘Gooch’ Doherty gave Downings a memorable win.
