St Eunan’s 0-14 Setanta 4-13
Setanta retained the Munster Cup with a comprehensive victory over St Eunan’s, showing how vital goals are.
Gerard Gilmore, Declan Coulter and a Ruairi Campbell brace got the goals for the Cross/Killygordon men in a tough battle in O’Donnell Park.
In a close opening 20, Setanta were a point up when Gilmore stole possession high up from the St Eunan’s puck out and blasted into the far corner.
The earlier points came from Danny Cullen (2) Gilmore, Coulter and Bernard Lafferty, while St Eunan’s pointed through Conor O’Grady, Sean McVeigh and two Daire Ó Maoiléidigh frees.
Eunan’s closed the gap to one but Setanta pushed into a five point lead through a Gilnore score and a Coulter penalty after Oisin Marley was fouled, 2-6 to 0-7 at the break.
Marley (2) and Matt Ahern traded scores early in the second half before three quick points from Eunan’s made it a three point game.
But three soon turned to eight as Campbell hit two brilliant quickfire goals.
Marley, Cullen, Campbell Gilmore and Sean Ward added to the Setanta score line for a well deserved win.
