Cork 3-9 Donegal 0-16
Donegal have fallen to their first defeat in this year’s championship after Cork upset the odds at Pairc Ui Rinn today.
Donegal found themselves 1-3 to 0-3 down after 21 minutes following Matty Taylor’s goal.
However, they improved in the second quarter with Patrick McBrearty and Ciaran Moore to the fore.
HT: Cork 1-4 Donegal 0-9
Cork made a great start to the second half and scored 2-1 without reply with Sean Powter and Rory Maguire hitting the net.
Jim McGuinness’s side showed character and they gradually ate into their lead before Aaron Doherty levelled matters in the 67th minute.
However, that was as good as it got as Cork landed the last two points from Steven Sherlock and Colm O’Callaghan to win the game.
Donegal will now have a two week break before facing Clare but they will be disappointed with this showing.
