A SONG written by a Strabane singer/songwriter with close Donegal connections was recently featured in an official video looking back on Manchester United’s 2013/2014 Champions League campaign.

Paul Tully is a young singer held in high regard in the North West as a singer with the cover band Pontius Pilots and as a solo artist in his own right. Last summer the son of Paul Tully Snr from Ballindrait, Lifford, released his debut EP Lyric For The Lost which featured the song Go Your Way (I’ll Go Mine) which has received rave reviews all over the North.

Now his song has officially been featured not once, but twice by English Premier League giants Manchester United, much to the Strabane man’s delight.

“A man named Michael Daly from Derry working with Manchester United got in touch a few weeks ago. He said he was interested in using my song for a video of Man United’s Champions League Campaign. I said absolutely no bother at all.

“I was chuffed to bits. It’s the first time my song has been used for anything, so it was great. It’s by far the biggest exposure I’ve ever had.

“It’s great to have your song used at all, never mind for the club you support. I was loving watching the video featuring my song, until they got knocked out by Bayern,” he laughed.

After the song was featured in the retrospective view on the club’s Champions League campaign, the club also used it at its official players awards night. “Hopefully a few people watching that evening will have liked the song aswell,” Paul added.

Paul this week posted the video featuring his song on his Facebook page, Paul Tully Music, and while of course not everyone is a Manchester United fan, his friends and fans were delighted for the recognition of the talented young singer’s song.

Paul is currently working on his new EP and looking forward to performing at various festivals during the summer. “My first EP ‘Lyric For The Lost’ has been doing well so intend to follow that up in the next couple of months,” he said.
