THE Glenswilly GAA club has been slapped with hefty fines for a number of alleged breaches of regulations in their recent Senior Championship quarter-final against Kilcar.
The Donegal Competitions Controls Committee (CCC) has come down heavy on Glenswilly.
Fines totalling €700 have been handed down after Glenswilly were found by the CCC at a meeting earlier this week to have been in breach of match-day regulations.
The club is set to appeal the decision.
Glenswilly started the game with sixteen players on the field, with the game having to be re-started after around a minute was played before the attention of the referee, Jimmy White, was alerted. The sixteenth man, Brian Farrelly, retreated to the bench and the game started again.
Glenswilly have also been penalised for having had more than the allotted six officials on the sideline, while they were found to have had eight officials in the dug-out prior to the arrival of their team and management and, during the game, the CCC is said to have found a substitute acting as a Maor Uisce (water carrier).
They were also punished for having had 28 players togged out. Teams are permitted to have 24 players togged out in their match-day squad and a dim view was also taken by the CCC of their taking fifteen minutes for the half-time interval, as opposed to the allotted ten minutes.
In total, they were fined €700 for the alleged breaches, but an appeal is set to be lodged by the Pairc Naomh Columba club.
Kilcar, meanwhile, were also fined for a pitch incursion by a member of the management during the same game.
