A YOUNG Donegal singer has made it through to the battle stages of this year’s The Voice Of Ireland following an impressive performance on Week 2 of the blind auditions last Sunday.
Kedar Friis-Lawrence (18) from Glen, near Carrigart, impressed the RTÉ programme’s judges singing the Oasis hit Don’t Look Back In Anger.
Judges Niall Breslin, aka Bressie, and pop ‘Superstar’ Jamelia both turned their chairs for the young Donegal singer who took a very unique approach to choosing.
“As a musician my first choice would be Bressie, but Jamelia was so nice and enthusiastic that I decided to toss a coin and ended up with Bressie.
“I have met him a few times since the blind audition to work on my song for the battle and I am really pleased I have him as a mentor, I get on really well with him.”
The former St Eunan’s College student will be very busy over the next few weeks promoting himself as, providing he gets past the battle stages, it will all be down to public votes to keep him in the competition.
