Glenfin’s great escape bid just falls short

Glenfin 5-17 Ardara 2-16

Glenfin almost pulled off the great escape in the Donegal Senior Championship but they will join Ardara in the relegation play-offs despite a big win over the Pearse Memorial Park men this evening.

Glenfin came into the game bottom of the 16-team table with a -23 score difference but they were excellent on the night.

Odhran O’Connor scored a super hat-trick and goals from Ciaran Brady and Aaron McGlynn had them 15 points ahead after 57 minutes.

They were heading for the Preliminary quarter-finals at that stage, but Ardara were also battling to avoid the last four.

Conor Classon and Paul Walsh scored late goals for Ardara but it wasn’t enough for either side and they join Aodh Ruadh and St Naul’s in the relegation play-offs.
