Glenfin take derby win over MacCumhaills

Glenfin took the bragging rights on derby day in Páirc Taoibhoige against MacCumhaills.

MacCumhaills were 0-6 to 0-4 ahead following a fast paced opening 15 minutes, with Joel Bradley Walsh hitting all six of their scores.

Odhran O’Connor kicked two points for Glenfin in the opening quarter but his next score raised the green flag and got Glenfin ahead for the first time as MacCumhaills never got back in front.

Glenfin led by 1-7 to 0-6 at the break and O’Connor fired over another point just after the restart but a spirited MacCumhaills levelled at 1-8 to 0-11.

The sides traded scores while Eoin Gallen made a number of good saves for the visitors, but Shaun Ward kicked two super 45s as Glenfin went into a three point lead.

Joel Bradley Walsh kicked two frees coming into added time but his third attempt from over 50 metres went inches wide in the last minute as Glenfin held on for the win.
