GLENFIN fell short at the quarter-final stage of last year’s Intermediate Championship, but their manager Liam Breen hopes they have learned their lessons from that defeat.
The Pairc Tabhoige men were downed by St Naul’s in 2017 but have come back strongly again this season and will take on Naomh Brid in Gerard Gallagher Memorial Park this Saturday.
“We lost in the quarter-finals by a point against St Naul’s in Donegal Town last year,” said Breen.
“We feel that we let it slip that day even though St Naul’s went on to reach the final, and will be in the reckoning again this year.
“It was a low-scoring game, and we had a free 30 metres out in front of the goals and had we scored that, we probably would have won the game.
“We dropped it short, and they went down the field and got the winner.
“We haven’t had much luck in quarter-finals through the gap, but we will be hoping for better luck this time. I’d like to think we have learned our lessons from last year.”
