The community of Gleann Cholm Cille is delighted that their local Post Office has re-opened, having been closed for the last three months.
Liam Ó Cuinneagáin, speaking on behalf of Gleann Parish Council stated, ‘The community wishes the Byrne brothers (Adrian, Michael and Séamus) the best of luck in the new venture and appreciate the fact that they were prepared to take the Post Office, an essential community service, on board’.
There were initial concerns that An Post would take the opportunity of closing the Office permanently; however Mr Peter Gillespie, the regional manager, stated at the time, that it was policy to keep it open and the process was completed efficiently and professionally.
The Parish Council expressed gratitude to the Breslin family and to Annie McGinley for their years of service in operating the Post Office over the last twelve years. The local community and local businesses used Carrick Post Office during the closure period and they thanked Margaret McHugh for her courteous support over the three month.
