Donegal 2-10 Waterford 1-8
Geraldine McLaughlin made her first appearance for Donegal in 2023, as Maxi Curran’s team opened up their All-Ireland Senior Championship Group with a win over Waterford in Lifford.
Lauren McGregor and Niamh Hegarty swapped early goals and Donegal finished the first half strongly to lead by 1-6 to 1-2 at half-time.
Waterford’s shooting was poor in the second half and Donegal never looked in any great trouble with Amy Boyle Carr scoring a super goal.
Geraldine McLaughlin was a surprising late inclusion on the team sheet and she came on in the 54th minute for the injured Niamh McLaughlin.
The win leaves Donegal in a strong place in the group, and they take on All-Ireland champions, Meath in two weeks’ time.
