SEAN MacCumhaill’s will not have the services of former Donegal Under 20 captain Luke Gavigan this year as he has transferred to Lucan Sarsfields in Dublin.
Gavigan is a strong, powerful player and has been a key man for the Twin Towns side in recent years.
He is linking up with An Garda Síochana and can’t commit to travelling home for football every weekend, so he will now play line out for Lucan.
MacCumhaill’s are also expected to be without Gavin ‘Fireman’ Gallagher in 2023, as the former Donegal Under 21 player is heading to Australia.
Conor Ward will not be playing for Glenfin this year as he has transferred to the St Kevin’s club in Australia.
Naomh Colmcille will also be without a reliable stalwart as John Fullerton will play his football down under.
Daryl Maguire, who is a former county minor panellist, has transferred out of the Ardara club, and will play for Tir Chonaill Gaels in London.
There are expected to be more transfers in the weeks and months to come as young men head off to pastures new.
There were a total of 834 ‘intercounty’ transfers within the association in February which is considerably more than the 499 from the same month last year.
Another 369 transfers were granted in the first seven days of March.
