Gardaí warn the public of fraudsters posing as officers

THE public are being warned to stay vigilant after recent attempted frauds involving scammers impersonating gardaí.

The scam aims to obtain personal information, such as bank account details via a WhatsApp call, where the caller is using An Garda Síochána’s crest as their profile picture.

Gardaí advise the public to be cautious of unsolicited calls or messages, never share personal or banking details, verify callers claiming to be gardaí, and report any scams to their bank and the authorities.
