Gardaí urge caution as flooding disrupts roads in Letterkenny

Roads across Letterkenny are currently flooded following persistent rainfall throughout the day.

Gardaí are warning road users to avoid route that are prone to flooding as it starts to get dark.

A yellow rain weather warning remains in place across Donegal until midnight tonight.

One particularly affected area is the slip road adjacent to the Clanree Hotel, which has become impassable due to rising water levels.

“Please turn back if possible if the road ahead appears to be badly flooded,” a garda spokesperson said.

“If the road ahead is only partially flooded then pass through keeping to the part of the road that is visible, one car at a time. When you exit the water, drive slowly tapping your brakes a number of times as this will help to dry them out.

“Please do take extra care when travelling and be alert,” the spokesperson added.
