AS LOW temperature warnings continued to be in place for the county over the weekend, gardaí have urged drivers to continue to use roads with ‘caution’ as the week begins.

Speaking to the Donegal News this afternoon, Inspector Goretti Sheridan said: “Thankfully, there have been no traffic accidents over the weekend that we have been made aware of.

“Given the bad weather conditions there has not been as much traffic on the roads, while those driving have been paying heed to our urges for road users to drive with caution.

“We would urge road users to continue to do so over the coming days and be aware of other vehicles on the road and also pedestrians,” she said.

Donegal County Council’s gritters were on the roads from 5pm this evening, but the council urged road users not to assume roads were ‘ice free’ and to drive with caution.
