GARDAÍ will be ramping up checkpoints and speed checks across Donegal this Bank Holiday weekend.
Drivers are being urged to never get behind the wheel of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.
A garda spokesperson said: “We are fast approaching the August Bank holiday weekend. As always, Gardaí will be out on the roads across the county conducting high visibility checkpoints and speed checks.
“We appeal to drivers not to ever make the decision to drive under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Slow down. Wear your seatbelt. Do not use/hold your mobile phone while driving. The consequences of drink/drug driving, speed and other poor driving behaviour can be devastating.”
